Can the tongue become mute through jinn possession?

Question

Question: Do the jinn as a people have the power and strength to shut a person’s tongue (take away his speech) or to work such effects as deafness, dumbness, blindness and the like? We have a young man here who is healthy, sound and well, but his condition is that in the course of a day and night he sometimes does not speak for one or two hours and sometimes for three or four hours. He has been treated a great deal, but no benefit at all is seen.

Answer

Effects of this kind can also result from the interventions (tasarrufat) of the jinn.
