Telling the numbers for betting

Question

Question: A certain man is an ‘alim (scholar), outwardly also God-fearing, and the imam of a mosque, but this ‘alim, by means of lower (black) magic, tells the numbers for gambling by betting on numbers. If someone comes to him as his servant and flatters him, the respected ‘alim tells him the incantation for betting.

Answer

This method of that ‘alim is wrong and contrary to the Shari‘a; such income is also haram.
