A spiritual practice for helping the oppressed, and payment for an amulet
Question
Zayd has sincerity in his heart, and with a sincere intention he is performing a certain Qur’anic ʿamal (spiritual practice), so that by gaining strength through it he may serve the religion and the community. The aim is to help the oppressed and to put an end to the oppressors. Is this ʿamal permissible for Zayd or not? And what is the ruling on the money that writers of amulets take after giving an amulet?
Answer
Until the full manner of the ʿamal is set before us, what ruling could be written about it? Moreover, the Noble Qur’an was revealed for guidance; it also contains injunctions to restrain the oppressors from oppression and to spread justice, and it contains both supplication (duʿa)
