Reciting salawat upon reading or hearing the blessed name, and making it up

Question

What do the scholars of religion and the muftis of Islam say regarding the following issues? May Allah, Blessed and Exalted, grant you a great reward. Amin. (1) Upon hearing the blessed name and noble appellation of the Prophet ﷺ, it becomes wajib to recite salawat (blessings upon the Prophet ﷺ). Please therefore write: from what age does salawat upon hearing the blessed name become wajib — that is, from the onset of puberty (bulugh), or is it wajib even for a child of ten or eleven years?

Answer

(1) It becomes wajib from the time of puberty (bulugh). (2) It is wajib once. (3) Once. (4) The way of repentance in this is that he should make it up (qada’), that is, recite salawat so abundantly that the heart begins to testify that the obligation no longer remains upon me — by this the wajib will be fulfilled. Verbal repentance alone is not sufficient. (5)
