Hijab before maternal cousins and others
Question
At our gathering a translation of the Holy Qur’an is read out. One day the mention of hijab was also read, and on hearing the mention of hijab the women became anxious, since the command of the Noble Qur’an is unalterable. Now all these women ask: should we cover the whole face, or only lower our gaze?
Answer
Hijab is necessary before all of them: the husband’s younger and elder brothers, the husband of the husband’s sister, the sister’s husband, and the sons of the maternal aunt, the maternal uncle and the paternal aunt.
