Burning nails and hair

Question

Is it permissible to burn a person’s nails, hair and the like or not? If not, then what should city women do with the hair that comes out with the comb, since they cannot bury it because the houses are built of brick?

Answer

Burning is not permissible. Such women should wrap them in some cloth or paper and throw them away somewhere. [ar]وفي الخانية: ينبغي أن يدفن قلامة ظفره ومحلوق شعره، وإن رماه فلا بأس، وكره إلقاؤه في كنيف أو مغتسل، لأن ذلك يورث داء، وروي أن النبي ﷺ أمر بدفن الشعر والظفر وقال: لا تتغلب به سحرة بني آدم. اهـ. ولأنهما من أجزاء الآدمي فتحترم.
