Keeping shoulder-length hair
Question
Question: What is the ruling on keeping shoulder-length hair on the head: is it permissible, or sunna, or impermissible? And is the ruling the same for everyone, or are there some details?
Answer
Keeping hair on the head — down to the earlobes, or below them, or down to the shoulders — is permissible and sunna. However, the hair that is kept nowadays, firstly, is not kept with this intention; and even if there is the intention, the style in which it is kept is not established (in the sunna). A straight parting is not made in the middle — a slanting parting is made.
