A teacher attending the meal given when a buffalo calves or after a circumcision
Question
Question: Zayd is a teacher at a madrasa on a salary of one hundred and ten rupees, and Zayd's domestic circumstances, by the grace of the Exalted, are also very good. In the village where Zayd teaches there is a custom that if someone's buffalo gives birth to a calf, or someone has his son circumcised, then after he recovers, he gives a meal for the musallis (the worshippers of the mosque). May Zayd too eat at this meal as one of the musallis or not?
Answer
This meal is given as an expression of joy and by way of thanksgiving; for the imam and others — the imam (?), the rich and the poor — for all of them eating it is permissible.
