Helping a divorced mother from the father’s property

Question

Question: A man named Khalid married a woman, and from this woman two sons and other daughters were born; one of the sons is named Zayd and the other Bakr. Then for some reason Khalid gave his wife a talaq (divorce). After the talaq, Khalid married another woman; from the second woman he has three children — one son and two daughters. But since the talaq, the mother of Zayd and Bakr has been living a life of hardship and poverty. Now Zayd and Bakr, who are adults, want to help their distressed mother.

Answer

Do not give the mother anything from the father’s property without his permission; however, earn by yourselves and keep serving her as much as you can. May Allah Most High (Haqq Ta‘ala) grant you success in both worlds.
