Usurping someone’s land

Question

Question: (1) Here the Communist Party has passed a law that from those who have more than 75 bighas (a local unit of land area) of land, it will be taken away. With this law in view, the people of our village filed an application against the land of a Muslim landlord on the grounds that such-and-such people had been cultivating it for five or six years, although this is an outright lie. And the Communist Party, siding with these false applicants, forcibly took at least 100 bighas of farmland (land)

Answer

(1) Wrongfully taking possession of someone’s land is ghasb (usurpation), which is haram in the Sharia. A severe warning has come about it in the hadith: [ar]عن سعيد بن زيد ﵁ قال: قال رسول الله ﷺ: «من أخذ شبرًا من الأرض ظلمًا فإنه يطوقه يوم القيامة من سبع أرضين».
