Communism

Question

We belong to the Communist Party — the one that exists in China and Russia and whose founders are Lenin and Marx. What are the principles and rules of its founders? Of what religion are they adherents? Can the greatness or dignity of the Qur’anic command and of the hadith remain intact in this party or not? And is it permissible for us Muslims to accept the Communist Party and take part in it, or not? In short, kindly grant a fatwa on this matter from the Islamic point of view.

Answer

The very foundation of communism is that man should be set at war with religion. Thus in Deeb’s ‘What Is Communism’, p. 812, it is stated that no one can become a member of communism save one who sincerely and openly declares that he is an atheist (dahri), that is, a denier of God.
