The Beliefs of the Mahdawi Sect
Question
Are marital ties with the Mahdawis — those who accept Mawlawi Muhammad Jaunpuri as the Mahdi — correct or not? Some of their beliefs, which could be ascertained only with difficulty, are these: 1. It is reported that Hazrat the Promised Mahdi ﵈ said: “The existence of worldly life is kufr” (Taqwim-i Mahdiyya (“The Mahdawi Calendar”), p. 4, 1968). 2.
Answer
I have not seen this book of that sect. The things you have recorded are not correct according to the way of the Ahl al-Sunna wa-l-Jama‘a; some of them are matters of extreme deviation (zaygh) and misguidance (dalala). If the attribution of these matters to them is correct and these are their beliefs, then their being contrary to Islam is evident.
