Criticising the Companions ﵃ in the Manner of Mawdudi

What is the ruling on acting upon the self-devised principles of Abul A‘la Mawdudi and criticising the elders of the Muslim community and the noble Companions ﵃?

Answer

The good pleasure of Allah the Exalted with the noble Companions ﵃, especially the elders of the Muhajirun and the Ansar, is mentioned in the sacred texts, and there is the command to follow them; upon whoever utters unbecoming words about the rank of these great ones a curse has come in the noble hadith.
