Selling a Pond to a Fisherman
Question
If a lump-sum price is agreed with a fisherman, part of the money taken in advance and part later, and the fish, once taken out, are weighed and handed over — is this permissible or not, while the labour continues to be accounted for? Is this arrangement possible: that the pond be sold to the fisherman as a whole, and the fisherman takes out the fish however he wishes?
Answer
To agree a lump-sum price with the fisherman and take part of the money in advance as earnest money is also correct; then the remaining money should be collected when the fish have been taken out and handed over.
