“Al-Wida‘” in the Friday Khutba
Question
On the last Friday of the blessed Ramadan, which is called “al-Wida‘” (الوداع — “the farewell”), texts of parting, regret and sorrow are recited. In “Rad‘ al-Ikhwan” it is stated that [these] texts are not established from the Prophet ﷺ, and therefore it is a bid‘a — whereas in India, and especially in Delhi, thousands of people go to recite al-Wida‘. Is reciting al-Wida‘ a bid‘a according to the Sacred Law, or what is its ruling? Should those who recite such texts be prevented or not?
Answer
