Distributing Food on the Night of Mid-Sha‘ban
Question
On account of the merit of the night of mid-Sha‘ban (Laylat al-Bara’a), food is generally distributed to the poor on that day; some people distribute the food during the day itself, before maghrib, while others distribute it at night, after maghrib. [What of this?]
Answer
Regarding the distribution of food specifically on this night, no narration has come to my notice; however, the merit of this night that has been transmitted extends from sunset until the break of dawn: [ar]شَعْبَانُ بَيْنَ رَجَبٍ وَشَهْرِ رَمَضَانَ، يَغْفُلُ النَّاسُ عَنْهُ، يُرْفَعُ فِيهِ أَعْمَالُ الْعِبَادِ، فَأُحِبُّ أَنْ لَا يُرْفَعَ عَمَلِي إِلَّا وَأَنَا صَائِمٌ.
