The ‘Urs of the Respected Azan Gachhi

Question

What do you say, may Allah Most High have mercy on you (ما قولكم رحمكم الله تعالى), about the sect of Azan Gachhi, whose shrine is situated in Calcutta, Maniktala, Baghmari Road, in a dervish’s cell, under the name “Haqqani Anjuman” (a society)? Their rule of practice is as follows: (1) Before or after the five daily prayers, or at any other time, a regular litany: Surah al-Fatiha, al-Ikhlas, the Mu‘awwidhatayn (the last two surahs) and the “Haqqani salawat”. (2)

Answer

Isal al-thawab (conveying reward to the deceased) in itself — without binding oneself to a date, a form and the like, whenever one is enabled to do so: by reciting the Holy Qur’an, tasbih, salawat and nafl prayers, by fasting, and by giving charity to the poor — is correct and beneficial.
