Stoppage of Work and Trade on the Demise of the Prophet ﷺ

Question

On the demise of the Noble Prophet ﷺ, was there a stoppage of work and trade as a sign of mourning in Madina or in other Islamic lands, or not?

Answer

This method of expressing grief — a stoppage of work and trade — did not exist in that era, neither in Madina Tayyiba nor in other Islamic lands.
