A Woman Who Had Several Husbands: To Whom Will She Belong in Paradise?

Question

Zayd says: we have heard that tomorrow, on the Day of Resurrection, when the righteous souls enter Paradise, then just as husband and wife formed a couple in this world, so there too that woman will become a houri for her husband. Further, if she contracted three or four marriages in this world, for which of them will that woman become a houri?

Answer

These women of this world will not become houris. The houris will be separate, and these women will be given separately. Concerning a woman who had several husbands in this world, the scholars have two views: one, that she will be given to the last husband; the other, that she will be given the choice, and she will be given to whomever she prefers.
