The End of a Poor and Afflicted Kafir
Question
There are many poor non-Muslims in the world: here too they are in hardship, and in the Hereafter, for lack of iman, they will be in Hell. And some non-Muslims are prosperous and wealthy and live in comfort in this world, even though in the Hereafter, for lack of iman, they are people of Hell. What is the meaning of this? The poor one has found comfort nowhere.
Answer
Yes, that poor non-Muslim is greatly to be pitied: here too he is in the affliction of poverty, and after death, because of his kufr, he will remain in Hell. But accepting iman here and doing righteous deeds is not forbidden to him; rather, the door of guidance is open for him as well. If he does not enter that door, whose fault is it?
