Is Anyone Other Than a Prophet Ma‘sum?

Question

Is it permissible or not to use and utter the word “ma‘sum” (sinless) for anyone other than the pure persons of the prophets ﵈? Or is the word “ma‘sum” specific to the prophets ﵈? People commonly call small children ma‘sum; up to what age do children deserve to be called ma‘sum?

Answer

It is correct to call children ma‘sum as well, so long as they have not reached maturity (bulugh).
