The Issue of Predestination

Question

Some people have asked as follows: after coming into this world, a person will act according to the predestination that Allah Most High has fixed; that is, whether he is good or bad, he will be subject to His command, since the Holy Lord has said in the Noble Qur’an that not even a leaf can stir without My command. Therefore, for the sins a person commits after coming into this world — why will He punish him in the Hereafter?

Answer

Disputation on the issue of predestination is not permitted. Once the noble Companions ﵃ were engaged in some conversation; the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came and asked: “What were you talking about?” They said: “The talk was about the issue of predestination.” His blessed face turned red with anger, and he said: “Is it for this that you were created, or for this that I was sent?
