The ruling on a specific vowed sheep or goat after the days of sacrifice

Question

Question: Zayd vowed: “If such-and-such a matter of mine is accomplished, I will perform one sacrifice.” By Allah’s command the matter was accomplished, and Zayd even bought a goat to fulfil the vow, but its sacrifice did not come about, until even the dates of sacrifice passed. Can Zayd now sacrifice this goat or not?

Answer

Now sacrificing it is not correct; Zayd should give that goat alive as sadaqa to some poor person entitled to zakat (“Shami”, Nu‘maniyya edition, vol. 5, p. 204).
