Minor oils (mustard, camelina, safflower, hemp, black seed, wheat germ) — is it halal?

Ruling: Mashbuh (doubtful)

Description

Minor vegetable oils: mustard, safflower, camelina, hemp, black cumin, wheat germ, sea buckthorn, cedar nut, etc. The oils are plant-based. Camelina, hemp, safflower, mustard, cedar nut and wheat (germ) oils are named in TR CU 024/2011, Annex 4; black cumin and sea buckthorn oils are not listed there.

Basis of the ruling

Mustard, safflower, camelina, hemp, sea buckthorn, cedar nut, black cumin and wheat germ oils are plant-based. On some plants in Europe and Central and South America refined oil is processed on the same lines that refine lard and tallow, and a film of fat remains in the equipment.
