The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “The lawful is clear and the unlawful is clear, and between them are doubtful matters that many people do not know. Whoever guards against the doubtful matters protects his religion and his honor.”

Pork — is it halal?

Ruling: Haram

Description

Pork is the meat of the domestic pig: muscle, fat and connective tissue of the carcase. In the EU pig meat is meat of “domestic ungulates”; as an ingredient of another food, meat is named after the animal species. It is also sold as a dry “pork protein” ingredient made from pig meat.

Basis of the ruling

Pork is the meat of the domestic pig (muscle, fat and connective tissue of the carcass); it is also sold as dry 'pork protein'. Pig meat is forbidden by the Qur'an. The pig is impure in its very essence (najis al-'ayn), all its parts are impure, and slaughter does not purify it.
