The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “The lawful is clear and the unlawful is clear, and between them are doubtful matters that many people do not know. Whoever guards against the doubtful matters protects his religion and his honor.”

Milk — is it halal?

Ruling: Halal

Description

Milk — the secretion of the mammary glands of farmed animals without additions or extractions: whole, skimmed, dried (SMP, WMP), condensed. In the EU colostrum is defined separately from raw milk. In the EAEU and EU non-bovine milk is named with the animal species; “milk” without a species is cow’s milk. Kumys is a fermented milk product of mixed lactic and alcoholic fermentation of mare’s milk.

Basis of the ruling

Milk — cow, goat, sheep, camel and buffalo milk: whole, skimmed, dried, condensed. Milk of a permissible animal is halal and needs no slaughter. Under EAEU and EU rules milk of a species other than the cow is named with the species, and "milk" without a species is cow's milk.
