الْحَلَالُ بَيِّنٌ وَالْحَرَامُ بَيِّنٌ، وَبَيْنَهُمَا مُشَبَّهَاتٌ لَا يَعْلَمُهَا كَثِيرٌ مِنَ النَّاسِ، فَمَنِ اتَّقَى الْمُشَبَّهَاتِ اسْتَبْرَأَ لِدِينِهِ وَعِرْضِهِ

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “The lawful is clear and the unlawful is clear, and between them are doubtful matters that many people do not know. Whoever guards against the doubtful matters protects his religion and his honor.”

Norms do not name the fat; per industry data in EFSA the feedstock is palm oil or beef tallow, beef bone fat, lard, pigskin fat (c3–c6); tallow of unnamed species — from suppliers (c7). Patents: marine oils (c8–c12), soapstock, waste oils, glue works (c13–c16)
