‘Ushr on Irrigated and Rain-Fed Land

Question

How much ‘ushr is fard on irrigated land, and how much on rain-fed land?

Answer

On the produce of land that is irrigated, or to which water is supplied with labour from a well and the like, half-tithe (nisf al-‘ushr) is wajib; and on the produce of land where crops grow from rainwater and water does not have to be supplied continually, ‘ushr is wajib.
