Using Mosque and Madrasa Funds for One Another as a Loan

Question

When there is need, may the mosque’s money be taken as a loan and used for the madrasa, and the madrasa’s money for the mosque, or not?

Answer

If there is confidence that the loan will be recovered and there is no likelihood of loss, it is proper with the counsel of the managing committee: [ar]لِلْمُتَوَلِّي إِقْرَاضُ مَالِ الْمَسْجِدِ بِأَمْرِ الْقَاضِي[/ar] “The mutawalli (trustee) may lend the property of the mosque by order of the qadi” (“Shami”, vol. 4, p. 403).
