The Five Daily Prayers in the Old Mosque and a Separate Mosque Built for Jumu‘a
Question
If in a certain mosque only the five daily prayers are performed, by the same one or two men, and nearby a mosque is built with the intention of praying only Jumu‘a in it, is it permissible in this case to build a mosque in that nearby locality only for Jumu‘a or not?
Answer
If people do not come to the old mosque to pray Jumu‘a, and a congregational (jami‘) mosque is needed in another place, then building a congregational mosque in another place is permissible. However, let them also perform the other prayers in it besides Jumu‘a, so that it remains populated with worshippers; do not reserve it for Jumu‘a only.
