Building a Second Mosque Out of Spite Against Another Mosque
Question
The man having the mosque built had earlier, before the construction of the mosque, committed forgery in dealing with the former imam, the mutawalli (trustee), and had become liable to imprisonment and a fine; that is, the reason for the construction of the mosque at this time is only to take revenge on the imam of the mosque, the mutawalli. Is this permissible or impermissible?
Answer
If one mosque already exists in accordance with the need, and he builds a second one merely out of spite, then this is impermissible.
