Building Another Mosque Near an Existing One

Question

Question: There is already a mosque, and people want to build another mosque near it. According to the Sharia, how much distance should there be between the two mosques?

Answer

If the worshippers cannot fit in this mosque and the space is cramped, and for that reason the need for another mosque has arisen, then let them build it far enough away that the voices of the imams’ qiraʾa (recitation) do not clash.
