A Mutawalli Having Himself Officially Registered
Question
(1) The mutawalli of a mosque had for a long time been carrying out the mosque’s affairs excellently. For certain reasons he made another person mutawalli. The new mutawalli, by building shops and the like on the mosque’s land, increased the mosque’s income. Without informing the congregation (jama‘at)
Answer
(1) The former mutawalli made a mistake in appointing a new man as mutawalli entirely on his own, without consulting people of sound judgement (ahl al-ra’y), because of which difficulties are now arising. It appears that there is not even any committee for the mosque.
