For a student, buying books is preferable to a voluntary sacrifice

Question

For a student on whom the sacrifice is not wajib, is it preferable to perform the sacrifice or to buy books of religious knowledge?

Answer

Buying books of religious knowledge is preferable: [ar]لِأَنَّ نَفْعَهُ أَعَمُّ وَأَشْمَلُ[/ar] “because its benefit is more general and more comprehensive.”
