Ruling on a specified vowed shat after the days of sacrifice
Question
Zayd vowed: “If such-and-such a matter of mine is accomplished, I will offer one sacrifice.” By Allah’s command the matter was accomplished, and to fulfil the vow Zayd even bought a goat, but its sacrifice did not take place, until even the dates of sacrifice had passed. Can Zayd now sacrifice this goat or not?
Answer
Its sacrifice is now not valid. Zayd should give that goat alive in sadaqa to some poor person eligible for zakat (“Shami”, vol. 5, p. 208).
