An objection to the superiority of the goat based on the text of Qadi Khan
Question
Question: The fatwa of the majority (jumhur) of the scholars of Islam is that the sacrifice of a goat is better than that of a cow; yet in the reliable Hanafi book Fatawa Qadi Khan it says: [ar]والبقر أفضل من الذكر والمعز[/ar] “And the cow is better than the male and the goat.” Indeed, in Fatawa ‘Alamgiri it says: [ar]البقر أفضل من ست شياه[/ar] “The cow is better than six shat (sheep or goats)”?
Answer
Where is this fatwa of the majority of the scholars of Islam transmitted? A reference is needed. The one who published the notice either did not understand the whole statement or deliberately did not quote it. This issue is neither agreed upon nor unqualified.
