Food and maintenance of minor children

Question

Question: Our parents lived in the ancestral houses of their fathers and grandfathers. Do the sons, too, have a right in the Shari‘a to live in their father’s houses during their minority?

Answer

The food, clothing and living arrangements of minor children are the father’s responsibility, when the minor himself has no property, as is mentioned in the books of fiqh.
