Maintaining a wife from unlawful wealth

Question

Question: If a man earns unlawful (haram) wealth and feeds his wife from it, is it permissible for the wife to eat it or not?

Answer

If it is not a bribe or usurped property (ghasb), there is room for it; that is, taking the unlawful wealth itself is impermissible, but there is latitude regarding things obtained in exchange for it, and the sin is on the husband.
