After Maturity, Does the Right of Upbringing Belong to the Paternal Grandmother and Others, or to the Maternal Aunt?

Question

Question: I have two daughters. When they were young, their maternal aunt took one of them to live with her because she had no children; after that she also took the second girl to live with her, to console her heart. The girl whom the maternal aunt had taken first she also gave in marriage (contracted her nikah) without my permission, but neither I nor my brothers nor my mother raised any objection, lest perhaps her heart be broken. The second girl too they are holding to this day against (our will)

Answer

(1) Yes! Hijab from the maternal aunt’s husband is fard, and he is a non-mahram, provided there is no other relationship with him, through suckling (rada‘a) or the like. (2) In such a situation it is necessary for the father to keep the girl with himself and not let her remain with the aunt’s husband.
