Denial after admitting the talaq

Question

Question: Zayd gave his wife talaq. Of the people present at the time of the incident, two women and one man gave a Shar‘i testimony that Zayd said four times: “I have given talaq to my wife” (میں نے اپنی بیوی کو طلاق دی). And during the incident another man came and found Zayd saying: “I have given talaq to my wife.” This man said to him: “Is the word ‘talaq’ some trifle? Do not say such a word,” whereupon Zayd said again: “What do you think? Yes, I have given her talaq” (ہاں میں نے اس کو طلاق دے دی).

Answer

When one man and two women whose testimony is acceptable (maqbul al-shahada) testify that in their presence Zayd said four times: “I have given talaq to my wife,” then according to the Shari‘a a major (mughallaza) divorce has taken effect, and the husband’s denial changes nothing.
