The husband denied it after the talaq
Question
Question: A man named Amir Qalam Cha’e (?) says to his life partner named Fatima: “I have left you on three talaqs” (میں نے تین طلاق پر تجھ کو چھوڑا); then, throwing one pebble, he said: “Left” (چھوڑی); and throwing a second he said: “Left”; then: “I say again: left” (پھر کہتا ہوں چھوڑی) — and went away. When a certain scholar (‘alim) began to inquire, Amir Qalam denied it.
Answer
If this incident took place in the presence of the said Ghulam Fatima and she herself heard the three talaqs, then according to the Shari‘a it is not permissible for her to give Amir Qalam power over herself; rather, she should separate from him by whatever means possible and on no account give him power over herself — so it is in “Radd al-Muhtar”.
