Making talaq conditional on the impossible

Question

Zayd, because of some discord and hurt feelings, said in a state of anger to his wife by nikah, Hinda: “Give me the thing I gave you in trust; I need it badly. If you do not give it, I will ruin your condition (lit. “make your state bad”).” Hinda gave no reply to this and stood by the door holding the little girl in her arms. Meanwhile Zayd repeated the above sentence again and again.

Answer

Hinda’s brother put an incomplete question before the respected scholar; the answer to it is exactly what the respected scholar gave. Had the question been put in full, as it is set out in writing, that would not have been the answer.
