The Signs of a True and Perfect Elder

Question

How is a true and perfect elder to be recognized?

Answer

His beliefs must accord with the Qur’an and the Sunna. He must be characterized by prophetic conduct, must possess the knowledge of the religion that is necessary, must be a follower of the sunna, must not be greedy for wealth or status, and must constantly be concerned with setting the Hereafter right.
