Joint ownership of property

Question

Question: The respected Muhammad Raza, known as Jumman, bought a house in Benares and began to live here. The respected Muhammad Raza, known as Jumman, had two sons: the elder was named Rahmatullah and the younger Muhammad Shamsuddin. The respected Muhammad Raza worked as a tailor, while Muhammad Rahmatullah first learned compounding (the work of a pharmacist’s assistant) and then took up practice as a physician of traditional medicine.

Answer

The house that Muhammad Raza, known as Jumman, bought in Benares is his estate (tarika); it will be divided among the Sharʿi heirs according to their shares. The work of Muhammad Raza and of Muhammad Rahmatullah in Benares was separate, and each one’s earnings were independent (they were not joint)
