How Many Minutes after Iftar the Maghrib Prayer Should Be

Question

In blessed Ramadan, after breaking the fast, by how much may the congregation of the Maghrib prayer be delayed? Some say that one should stand for the prayer immediately after iftar; others say that after the people of the neighbourhood have come one may wait up to ten minutes. Kindly inform us of the answer.

Answer

Such a gap should be left between the adhan and the congregation that those who regularly attend the congregation can finish their iftar, rinse their mouths and so on, and join from the beginning of the congregation.
