Missing Zuhr Because of School Education

Question

In acquiring modern education the Zuhr prayer is mostly missed. What is [the ruling on] acquiring this education? And what is [the ruling on] helping one of one’s relatives financially to obtain such an education?

Answer

If [the students] cannot go to the mosque and join the congregation of Zuhr, the students can hold their own congregation. But if this is not permitted, and for several months it becomes unavoidable to make the Zuhr prayer itself qada’, then according to the Shari‘a such education is not permitted in which one has to miss (make qada’ of) so great a pillar of Islam.
