Seeking Forgiveness (Istighfar) in Salat al-Haja

Question

Is it permissible in salat al-haja (the prayer of need), as in [other] nafl prayers, to intend istighfar (seeking forgiveness) and the like along with the need?

Answer

It is permissible. Editor’s note: since salat al-haja has been legislated in order to obtain one’s need and requirement, and what need can a person have greater than asking forgiveness for his sins? — therefore it is permissible to make istighfar in it.
