Should one break off the prayer after scratching three times in one pillar?

Question

It is stated in Fatawa ‘Alamgiri that if someone in prayer scratches three times in one pillar (rukn), moving [his hand] each time, the prayer becomes fasid (invalid). So is it permissible in this case to break off the intention (niyya) [of the prayer]?

Answer

If he scratched three times in one pillar, he should not break off the intention [of the prayer]; then, if he later performs that prayer again, that is good.
