The imamate of one who does not observe the rules of tajwid
Question
If someone’s pronunciation does not render all the attributes (sifat) of the letters, although he wants to pronounce them with as much effort as possible and is even convinced that he is pronouncing according to the rules of tajwid, yet the muqtadis do not properly make out his recitation — will the prayer be valid in this case or not?
Answer
If there is another person more fit for the imamate than he, who observes the rules of tajwid, then that person’s imamate is preferable (awla); yet the prayer behind the man mentioned is also valid, so long as he does not make a mistake in the prayer that invalidates it.
