Regarding the imam as lowly and contemptible

Question

Will the prayer of people who look upon the imam disparagingly, regard him as contemptible and declare his earnings haram be accepted before Allah or not?

Answer

Looking with contempt even upon the least of Muslims is not right according to the Shari‘a. This is arrogance (takabbur), which is haram. It is stated in the blessed hadith that an arrogant person will not be able to enter Paradise until the arrogance has been burned out [of him] in Hell.
